The arts are an essential part of a healthy, vibrant community. They help businesses attract highly educated workers; provide educational opportunities for children; and help us understand complex social and political issues. Perhaps most importantly, they inspire us, entertain us and fill our lives with beauty. Yet, in order for the arts to thrive, artists and arts organizations must be able to handle the organizational and administrative challenges that allow them to do their creative work. Increasingly, Seattle artists and organizations are turning to The Shunpike for this support.
The Shunpike partners with emerging artists in all media to build skills in essential areas, including fundraising, marketing, Board development, and financial management. Through workshops with leaders in the field, the implementation of reliable systems, and regular work with The Shunpike's staff, our clients are developing as producers and managers in ways that will strengthen their ability to reach audiences and build sustainable organizations.
The Shunpike is a unique organization building a stronger arts community and, through that work, a stronger Seattle. We help artists do their work. We help artists help themselves.
