Job Announcement – Executive Director

The Shunpike, a nonprofit arts services organization, is hiring its first full-time staff member – an executive director – to manage the organization and provide services to its clients.

About the Position
The executive director will manage the organization, support its growth and development, and provide services to clients. Specific responsibilities include liaison with board of directors; financial oversight of the organization, including bookkeeping, payroll and taxes; management of the development director; providing support to clients on topics such as financial management, strategic planning, organizational development, and board recruitment and training; creating and maintaining strategic partnerships with peer organizations; serving as the public face of the organization to donors, clients, funders and the media; and business development of new clients. In addition, the executive director participates in soliciting donations from individual donors, and works with the staff and board to develop and execute a long-range strategy for the organization.

The executive director is a full-time, 40 hours per week salaried position, starting at $32,000 - $36,000 per year DOE, plus full health benefits and paid vacation. Work schedule is based on client availability and need; some evening and weekend work necessary. This staff member reports directly to the board of directors.

About the Organization
The Shunpike strengthens the Seattle arts community by partnering with small and mid-sized arts groups to develop the business tools they need to succeed. Since our inception, we have supported work by more than 1,000 artists working in live performance, film, literary arts, visual arts and arts education. Specifically, the organization provides business and administrative consulting services – including fundraising, marketing, financial management, bookkeeping, strategic planning and board development – to emerging arts groups to help them be more effective and efficient in their organizational efforts. The Shunpike conducts three main programs: Accountability and the Arts, Partner Artists and Sustainable Organizations.
