Accountability and the Arts: Great Mission Statements

SEATTLE - The Shunpike, in collaboration with Seattle DanceNet, is excited to announce the next installment of their successful “Accountability & the Arts” series. “Great Mission Statements” will focus on the all-important task of crafting a mission statement that accurately reflects your organization’s cause and motivates people to participate. The workshop will be held Monday, August 7th at 7pm in Buster’s at ACT Theatre, and will feature Laura Pierce.

Laura Pierce is the owner and principal consultant of Laura Pierce Consulting. Laura has worked in nonprofit organizations for over fifteen years, including fund development, community organizing, and executive management positions. Laura has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington with a concentration in nonprofit management. Her clients have included large and small nonprofits, with a special emphasis on small to medium sized social change organizations.

The Accountability and the Arts series has been developed in support of The Shunpike’s mission to strengthen the Seattle arts community by partnering with artists to more effectively present and distribute their work. The series launched in April 2005 with a public forum on the concept of accountability, and has continued bimonthly ever since.

The Shunpike was founded in 2001 to strengthen the Seattle arts community by partnering with artists to more effectively present and distribute their work. It focuses specifically on emerging artists and arts organizations, helping them negotiate the many administrative, business and production challenges inherent in making art and developing sustainable institutions. Since its inception, it has successfully supported the work of over 500 artists working in diverse media including live performance, film, literary arts, theatre, visual arts and arts education.
